Introduction

The Lyndale community attempts by God's grace and our practices, to be a spirited justice seeking, practicing, prayerful, playful, praising, progressive, accessible, open and affirming community in the LynLake neighborhood and beyond.

Concerned about justice and equality, in 2006 we endorsed Equal Marriage Rights for All, including 1) affirming equal marriage rights for couples regardless of gender and 2) endorsing marriage policies that do not discriminate against couples based on gender.  Effective April 9, 2006, Lyndale Church and it's pastors no longer perform civil/religious marriages as an agent of the State of Minnesota.  We continue to perform religious marriages only, for all couples, same or opposite gender.  In other words, we'll do a blessing ceremony for glbt and straight couples, but that's it until everyone can be married.

127 years in the LynLake neighborhood we are excited about our partnership with First Christian and Salem Lutheran in reducing our carbon footprint as we move to share space (3 congregations partnered, not merged) owning and sharing one building.  Besides the renovated building at 28th and Garfield S., affordable housing is being built and managed by Brighton Development Corporation on the corner of 28th and Lyndale S.  We are thrilled to be a part of this positive development in the Whittier and LynLake neighborhood.

Join with us in a variety of ways: serving a monthly meal at Simpson Shelter; making meals at Feed My Starving Children; working to transition off oil with the Uptown and Whittier Transition communities; acting in solidarity with members of Asamblea de Los Derechos Civiles and their campaign of emancipation from an unjust immigration system; endorsing and supporting the Centro de Trabajadores en Lucha (CTUL) campaign by retail cleaners for humane working conditions; working with the Minnesota Council of Churches to help settle immigrants; 2nd Sunday of Silence sitting following worship; 10:30 a.m. Sunday Worship or 9:15 a.m. (except summer) Christian Education for children, youth and adults.  Adult Ed. meets in the front room of the Egg and I restaurant.
